Lloyd and Mary Gilbertson

Lloyd Gilbertson has been mushing dogs since 1978. The first ten years he guided Sled Dog trips in the Canada/Minnesota Boundary waters and traveled in the far north on several expeditions. In 1988 he entered his first Sled Dog Race and his life went totally to the dogs. Lloyd moved to the UP in 1993 and married Mary Gilbertson. Lloyd and Mary share a kennel of   100 dogs near Chatham , Michigan and raise about 25-30 pups most years in possibly the best place on the planet to raise and train sled dogs. Lloyd and Mary share the Caribou Creek Racing Team and run the Caribou Creek Sled Dog School and Caribou Creek Pet Food. The Caribou Creek Racing team competes primarily in mid-distance and Stage events. Recent wins include the 2005 Wyoming International Pedigree Stage Stop Race and the 2006 Diavik 150 Canadian Championship Dog Derby in Yellowknife .
